Five days after getting back from Italy we were on our way to Michigan for Friendcation. This yearly tradition is such a blast - especially as the kids are getting older and can be more independent. We spent the long weekend either on the beach, around a campfire or in a hot tub.
School got out and three days later we're on a plane to chaperone 32 high school students in Italy. The itinerary was bonkers - fly into Milan, bus to Verona, two nights in Venice, then to Florence and San Gimignano, down to Assisi for a day, Pompeii and Sorrento for a night, over to Capri for the day and finally Rome. The kids were great, but we learned a lot about 'chaperoning'. Group travel isn't our preferred way to go but it was fun revisiting many places we had already been. Auggie had a fun time with Nana and Grandpa John but was definitely missing us by the end.
Had a fun Labor day weekend up at the Cabin. Spent a day in Duluth at the aquarium and enjoyed many of the fine breweries the city has to offer. Auggie went bowling for the first time at the same place Elyse and the fam would bowl when they were younger - a real trip. We met Chris's folks in Milwaukee for an overnight trip centered around the Zoo. It was our first time there and a great size with all the animals you'd want to see.
