2025 is here! That means 5 years since covid, 5 years since cancer?! 2024 was a fantastic year! Elyse was named one of Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce outstanding teachers. The night of the award ceremony she was announced as the Teacher of the Year! So proud and so well deserved. We spent spring break down in Florida, and Auggie got his swimming flippers. Auggie celebrated his third birthday with an 'I dig being three' construction themed party.
Summer was a whirlwind of travel. Chris and Elyse chaperoned Elyse's high school students on a trip of Italy while Auggie stayed home with Nana and Grandpa John. The trip was relatively drama free, although not a way of travel that we like (tour busses, guides, new city every day? gross). Three days after getting home we were in Michigan for Friendscation. It's so much fun that all the kids can play together now. We threw a surprise 75th party for John's birthday. Everyone was in town because that weekend was the Pink Party - a celebration of 5 years cancer free. We booked Bjorklunden for the weekend and had a great time with friends and family in Door County. A couple of weeks later we were on a train from Chicago to Glacier National Park. Auggie enjoyed the train, but agreed it was 12 hours too long. Our new country of the year for Auggie was Canada. We spent 4 days in Canmore going on day trips to Banff and the surrounding area. Then we were down at the Village Inn on Lake McDonald for a night before finishing the trip in an Airbnb just outside Glacier. Auggie did a great job hiking, rafting and enjoying the mountains. Back in the Midwest we went camping with Auggie a few times and he had a blast each time. Looking forward to more of that in the future.
The Fall had us taking weekend trips to visit friends, enjoy the colors in Door County, and having people over for the Packers games. At Thanksgiving down at the Dorn's, we surprised Karen with a 75th Birthday party and video. We went on the Polar Express at the Railway Museum in Green Bay and went all the way to the North Pole! Or at least around the property 4-5 times. Elyse was just in New York to help Justine with the birth of Huck Quincy Lucas! Auggie is so excited to have another little cousin. We're looking forward to spending Christmas down in North Carolina with Matt and the fam.
We wish you all good health, yummy food and exciting adventures for 2025.
